About SafetyText

SafetyText is a simple text message based system to keep you safe. It enables you to send a text message detailing where you are going and who with, which only gets delivered if you aren't safe and unable to cancel it. The message is sent to a contact you choose, at a time you choose.

How To Use SafetyText

1 - Setting Your Contacts

Your contact is the person/s who you wish to receive the alert if you are unable to cancel your SafetyText.

To set your contacts:

ALERT (then a space) CONTACTS (then another space) YOUR CONTACT'S PHONE NUMBER (eg: 07701234567)

Send this to 83010

You only need to do this once unless you wish to change your contact.

2 - Setting Up Your SafetyText

Here's how you set up your SafetyText:

ALERT (then a space) TIME YOU WANT ALERT TO BE DELIVERED IN 24 HR FORMAT EG. 2315 (then another space) YOUR MESSAGE (eg. Got lift to pub in car reg. BL08 ABC)

Send this to 83010

You will receive a confirmation message which will also confirm your chosen contact.

Try and include details which could help trace you in an emergency - for example, names of who you're with, car registrations, venue name. All licensed taxis have a license number on display so you could include this.

Setting Up Your SafetyText

If your plans change, simple set up a new SafetyText. This will automatically cancel the old one.

3 - Cancelling Your SafetyText

Part of what makes SafetyText unique is that it gives you total confidentiality. When you are safe, you can cancel your SafetyText and nobody need know where you were.

When you know you're safe, here's how to cancel your SafetyText:

ALERT (then a space) STOP

Send this to 83010

Your SafetyText has now been cancelled and will not be sent.
